After Disney comedy duo Chip 'n' Dale broke
up, Dale – the party animal with the larger, redder nose –
ended
up running a self-named bar/cafe here in Middle of Nowhere, CA.
And while this business is now just as often out of business,
you can always rely on the DH east of Dales to provide some
madcap merriment. There’s a well-drawn background of Pavement
and Engineering throughout, though the plot of curves is a
little slow to build as the show moves east. The open plateau at
the beginning is renowned for its vibrant explosion of
wildflower color in March/April but the Scenery becomes less
animated as you leave the heat of the central valley behind and
move into the cooler, forested ridges on the approach to Lassen
Volcanic National Park. The entertainment on this ride is light,
so you don't expect to find a huge amount of Character. But with
the great Twistiness in the higher country on the other side of
the spinoff, DH38 Lassen Park Road, you may find yourself
smiling, even chuckling at times before the story ends. Oh, and
what happened to CHiP, you ask? He’s the cartoon character
behind you in glorious black and white.
